Jean-Louis BANERES

Jean-Louis BANERES is Research Director at the French Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique and head of the Molecular Pharmacology Department at the Institut des Biomolécules Max Mousseron (IBMM), in Montpellier.
He is interested in both membrane protein biochemistry and G Protein-Coupled Receptor (GPCR) functioning. He has developed for many years different approaches for producing purified receptors stabilized in their native conformation in vitro and has been using these purified receptor to answer some basic question on the way GPCRs function, in particular in the context of dimeric complexes.
Currently, he is interested into the way signalling through the ghrelin receptor is controlled, at the molecular level, by pharmacologically relevant ligand and dimerization.
