The structure, mechanics, dynamics and interactions of biological macromolecules are studied by developing and applying algorithms for molecular simulation. In this way, computers open windows into the molecular world and help to understand the factors underlying experimental results and, in some cases, to predict the properties and behaviour of biologically important molecules.
